How dryness is calculated
The chance of still being dry after K kills at a 1-in-N rate is:
P(dry) = (1 − 1/N)^K That number is the share of players who would also be dry at your kill count; so its opposite, 1 − P(dry), is the share who would have the drop by now. If P(dry) is 5%, you are drier than 95% of players would be at your KC. That's the number this calculator leads with.
Worked example: 1,000 kills at a 1/512 rate gives (511/512)1000 ≈ 14.1%. About 14 out of 100 players would still be dry; unlucky, but nowhere near unheard of.
A word of comfort (or warning)
Being dry is not a sign the game is rigged against you, and being lucky doesn't mean a dry streak is coming to balance it out. Each kill rolls independently; the dice have no memory. A 1% streak is genuinely rare, but with millions of players grinding every day, someone is always that 1%. This week, it might be you.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as "dry"?
There's no official line. This calculator expresses your streak as a probability: if fewer than 5% of players would still be dry at your KC, most players would call that dry. Below 1% is genuinely unlucky territory.
Am I owed the drop soon because I'm this dry?
No. Flat drop rates have no pity system: your next kill has exactly the same 1-in-N chance as your first. If a specific piece of content does have bad-luck mechanics, its OSRS Wiki page will say so.
Why does the verdict say "normal" when I feel cursed?
Humans are pattern-seekers. At 1/512, going 700 kills without a drop happens to about a quarter of players; it just doesn't feel normal when it's happening to you.
Does "drier than 99% of players" mean 99% of players have the drop?
Not exactly; it means 99% of players would have received at least one drop by your kill count. A lucky few would have received several.
