OSRS GP/Hour Calculator

Loot minus supplies: see your real GP per hour, per kill and per session; before you commit the hours.

Long-run average, rares included. Works for trips too.

Your realistic rate, including banking time.

Food, potions, prayer, charges: everything you consume.

For a per-session profit figure.

How to use the GP/hour calculator

  1. Work out your average loot per kill; your own loot tracker is best, the wiki's drop table is second.
  2. Enter your realistic kills per hour, including banking and re-supplying.
  3. Add supply cost per kill, then read your true profit per hour, per kill and per session.

Why subtract supplies?

Raw loot rates flatter everything. A boss that drops 60k per kill but eats 15k in potions and prayers pays 45k; and if you also die once a session, that's another cost line. Net profit per hour is the only number worth comparing grinds by. As an illustrative example: a 1-in-500 drop worth 5M adds an average of 10,000 GP to every kill, the same as a guaranteed 10k drop; that's how rare drops amortize.

Two real-world dents to remember when you set your numbers: the Grand Exchange charges sellers a 2% tax (up to 5M per item), and item prices move; a profit rate computed at today's prices is an estimate, not a promise.

Per kill, per trip, per hour

The calculator is unit-agnostic: "kill" can be a boss kill, a slayer task, a barrows trip or a hour of skilling. Just keep the units consistent; loot per trip with trips per hour works exactly like loot per kill with kills per hour.

Frequently asked questions

How do I work out my average loot per kill?

Best: your own records; a runelite loot tracker over a few hundred kills gives your true average. Otherwise, multiply each drop's chance by its value from the OSRS Wiki drop table and add them up. Remember to include the rare drops: they're most of the profit at some bosses.

Should rare drops be included in the average?

Yes, at their expected value: chance × price. A 1/512 unique worth 8M contributes about 15.6k per kill on average. Excluding rares makes steady grinds look better than they are and bosses look worse.

Why is my real profit lower than the calculator says?

Usually uncounted costs or optimistic kill rates: banking time, deaths, wasted specs, gear repairs and the Grand Exchange's 2% sales tax. Track one real session and calibrate.

Does this work for skilling money-makers?

Yes, treat "kills" as inventories or hours. Supplies for skilling are things like teleports, stamina potions or plank-make costs. For XP planning alongside profit, use the XP calculator.

Where do I compare money-makers?

The OSRS Wiki maintains a money-making guide with estimated rates. Use this calculator to adjust their numbers to your actual kill rate and costs; those guides assume efficient, geared players.
